I will complain about the lack of softkeys, they could provide easy access to common functions like the one that newguy complains about, start / end calls etc. . .

first i thought the upper left and upper right keys would function as softkeys but then i realised, why would you need them if the screen is touchscreen? you just tap on "answer" or "end call" with your finger!

Even if the "qwerty" keyboard turns out to be a pain to use, you can always use the virtual keyboard input through the touchscreen. Believe me, touchscreen device without any numeric keys isn't very practical, especially when you drive or are being shaken by one reason or another.

EDIT: Due to the lack of soft keys and yes/no buttons, I think it would be best for SE to make the screen with integrated-scratch-resistant-something.

Now that's my thinking about the softkeys!   XD

¿Why should i have to touch the screen just to take a call?    :/

Arent we all maniacs about the little scratch's in our phone's display?     ???

Or am i the only one crazy about it?  :|  i have a nintendo DS and the touchscreen is allready  heavily scratched (and yes i do USE the stylus or the little thumb plastic provided for this very purpose)

While its off the screen is clearly scratched all around, once it's on, well the story changes, the scratches arent so visible but  they  still can be seen.

Just to rip it off, i agree with viper, they better put some scratch-prof stuff on it !

I currently have a Qtek S100 (HTC Magician) and I have no problems with the screen for the 6 months I've been using it. I use the stylus and my NAILS to operate.

too bad there's no wifi. If not, it'd be great.

But i don't understand why the make the buttons so low. What's that "quickshare-like-sticker" between the buttons and screen? I think they should have moved it below the buttons - the buttons are way too low, not ergonomical.

BTW: huh? what is an "eye for latch"? you mean the thing to hang it on your neck/hand by?

My english sucks, I know... :) It is that hole in the case of a phone where you can attach a ... "piece of <<rope>>" and hang it on your neck. Dunno how clear I was.. :)

Now that we’ve added all the official photos to the W950 and K610, here’s the first batch of photos of our live coverage of Sony Ericsson’s party at the 3GSM Barcelona. A too-dark-for-great-photos event where 15-20 Sony Ericsson representatives wore W950’s around the neck, each, and where the music was played by a well known DJ Judge Jules from several Walkman Sony Ericssons! The new smatphone’s innovative keypads proved to be totally useable, with the M600’s actually having two presses per key (one for each letter, right press or left press) thus working as a proper Qwerty keyboard, and the W950’s being something not dissimilar to Motorola’s RAZR keypad, in a rubbery, more stylish way, yet very comfortable to use; whose color/graphic design they’re not all happy with, and might be changing before it goes on production, we were told. The negative point in the evening was to discover that only one P990 was hanging around with a really slow interface because the damn thing is still under development.

HERE ARE THE REST OF THE PHOTOS

Here are other links to live galleries of the M600:

it only SEEMS a downside that there is no camera and lack of basic navi keys
but i see once you get adopted to the phone everything seems just fine and shifting back to the so-called normal phones would then seem odd
it is only matter of time

Maybe I missed this in the review, but what is the touchpad-like-looking thing between the keypad and the screen?

That's the space where you'll soon see your favorite operator logo every time you take our your phone. Every... time...
(at least with the w600 you only see it when the spin is open.)

W950 reviewed by Mobile-review

From the website with the literal name and the guys who hate the orange color comes another in-depth review with gems like “In Sony Ericsson W950i sound quality is better than in Walkman series phones, and I have no idea how to explain it”. For the lazy readers, here’s a summary:

From the aesthetic point of view, the keyboard is interesting, though in practice it can give a lot of trouble. As to my opinion, the keyboard will start wearing off after a year or year and a half of intensive usage. (…) Though this only my guess rather than facts. (…)

Absence of standard keys for accepting and ending calls is caused by the desire of warding the keyboard against frequent presses. It will be extremely interesting to examine failure statistics of the touchkeyboard, incorporated into W950i as times goes by. (…)

The screen doesn’t fade in the sun and what is more, provides a vivid picture with good color rendering (up to 262 K colors); therefore the phone leaves a favorable impression. (…)

Non-stop playback of mp3 tracks with the default headset, which is included in the kit, plugged in (maximum volume) lasted for 13.5 hours. I will only note, that this test was carried out with the network capabilities turned on (Flight profile wasn’t used). (…)

Mood – there are five types of mood available (None, Happy, Sad, Relaxed, Energetic). This an additional parameter that can be manually set by user, so the sorting may be applied to both the general list or particular mood lists. (…)

I assure you that lack of camera doesn’t affects the handset’s capability of accepting video calls, since you can set any picture or video clip, which will be shown to your interlocutor. (…)

The model is expected to be released in July at the price of 550-650 Euros (depending on regions). (…)

I also would prefer a couple of navigation keys, but I think the reason they are absent is the space... there just isn't enough space for them, or the screen would suffer.

I got a chance to play with a couple of SE's 2 weeks ago, one of them was the infamous M600.

My experience with the phone is that is a great thing for the business market. It offers good competition to the Symbian series 60 phones, even better this one has the touchscreen functionality which is a big plus!
Unlika Luis, I very much disliked the keyboard. It looks plesant but when using it, its not that easy or comfortable. I dont think this is a matter of getting used too. Because most people dislike the P910 keybourd, but I liked/used it very much.
I practiced on the M600, but still i maybe too much mistakes in my sentences(see photo and video)

De scroll wheel sucks! Its sunken to deep beneath the little bump!

The US is different and takes some time getting used too... but... I LIKE IT. Yeah UIQ 3.0, come on Im ready for you! The taskmanager, that you can open anytime, anywhere, is great. You can see the most recent programs that you opened or you can see which are active now and close them if you like.
I cant say to much more about the software because it was so buggy, with me it crashed 2 times. Alot of things were simply not working yet.

The screen is Top Notch!

Photo's:

Afters practicing a little with the keyboard I had written the following line on the picture. 1st line with the keybourd, 2nd one with the touchscreen. See the difference in mistakes.

A pictures of the M2 stick.
