Did you know...? The magic volume keys

« on: 27 January 2006, 21:40 »

We do have an excuse if you didn't find news around here for a while, even if there was a lot of spy shooting lately (to which we have something to say about, but later on that); it's been the holidays, our comeback to California, the yearly server slowdown/upgrade, and the resulting technical problems in the forum, altogether. So while we're updating the latter, here's a little trick I found myself the other day and will certainly surprise more than one or two readers out there. Were you, like me, furious about the first so called music phones, W800/K750 and W600, not having dedicated music buttons other than the pretty basic "music button"? Will I make your life happier if I suggest you to press-and-hold the volume buttons from any menu, keypad locked or not, during playback, and you found yourself SKIPPING SONGS? Go tell everybody, you SE prophet!

(and if you already knew, why the heck didn't you tell us!?)

UPDATE: Steve tells us it also works in the V800, so it may also be a feature of the K600, K700 and S700?

:D:D you killed me with this one, guys :D read the manual!!
I know, reading manuals is very ungeeky, but I discovered many functions of my Z600 and Z800 this way. like the little shiny bubble next to the camera on many camera phones - would you have ever guessed that was for shooting pictures of yourself? you have to be a skilled navigator with steady hands though...

I found out by accident. I was trying to change the volume and held the key down for too long and it skipped to the next song.

It works not with the full black-outed display! You've to press e.g. the main navkey so that the display awakes and then press the volume-key!

No, you have to HOLD it for it to work.

I know that... but with a full black-out of the display, it does not skip, even if I hold the key till hell freezes over.  ;D

S700i. In radio mode, the volume keys are used for switching to next available radio station, btw. :)

Yes this is really great!
In fact volume keys but also play/stop key are enabled to work also when keypad is locked.
This last according with the function given in the configuration menu.
