New D750

Remember the Vodafone-exclusive V800? This is another serious agreement with an operator, this time with T-mobile and an even more exclusive solution: the D750 is not a K750 nor a W800. Is a mix of both. To summarize, the external design is that of the W800 in a much more atractive silver/blue color scheme and —how not— a customized T-mobile key instead of the music player shortcut key. However, since it’s not a Walkman phone, it doesn’t support the feature for playing music with the phone switched off. That said, it looks to me like it’s a K750 inside. Anyway, probably the best looking one of them three. I guess it will be an exclusive for other operators in the countries without T-mobile. And non-branded some time, why not?

So it's basically a K750 with W800's design. Not bad, but I'm kinda sick of all those "brand exclusive" phones.

I agree with you but, I think that's the way it's going to be. Phones that are optimized for a certain network. It has been this way for years in Japan
I like the color scheme beter then the one of the W800.

Does look like a great phone - and I guess the networks sometimes need the help of an exclusive to persuade customers. I always think its cool though if you unlock them and use a different network in them. Thought it was pretty cool when I met a girl with and Orange sim for her GX-10
didnt think it was so cool when mms wouldnt work on it tho
With regards to the Japanesse phones, as a by the way, I read that it is illegal to discount the prices in Japan or China? I there any truth in this?

T-Mobile finally granted me my first free upgrade, and I kind of agreed to choose this 'blind' without knowing exactly what it was like but understanding it was similar to the K700 series. When I got home from work afterwards and checked it out online, man was I pleased! I'll be getting it in the mail tomorrow morning.
...I guess what this phone is like, is pretty clear, but if anyone has any questions, fire away.

Hi all new to the site.
I just bought this phone on a T-Mobile U-Fix plan, phone is quite nice looking etc., I'm finding it quite a hassle to use though, personally I must say I'm a Nokia person and have hated sony in the past as all my sony products break down big time from DVD players to VCR's etc.
Anyways a friend of mine had the K750i which made me stray from Nokia to the D750i as that's T-Mobiles version, how ever the phones software has crashed on me twice, wallpapers fail to load even somethings deleted themselves or became corrupt!!!, sony told me to use the restore function which is a hassle each time, plus should I really have to do that why is that feature there do they expect problems with their products and build that into the phones? thinking about taking mine back and swapping it for a fresh sealed one just in case it's my phone at fault. Sent two emails to Sony been 5 days and no response which is also quite annoying and poor quality of customer service.
As this is my first experience with a Sony Ericsson I'm not to sure if the following is on all Sony phones or not, some basic functions I used a lot of on Nokia phones is the calender which allows me to add birthdays, reminders and events etc., have them setup as a one off time event or make them carry over weekly, monthly etc. The Sony Calender just allows me to input one appointment at a time, if I want to carry that over week to week I have to re make each and every appointment over and over which is annoying.
Now on to the actual phone I find the joystick a bit to short, when I scroll it's quite sensative and actually presses down so it confirms a sellection which i did not intend, maybe if it was slightly bigger the problem might be ok, also if you have stubby thumbs you will find it even more of a nightmare as that's what my friend suffers from and I can hear him swear every now and then in frustration.
The earphones that come with both the D and K 750i's are quite painful when wearing them, it's not just me as my friend is a long time Sony user, he has said he never had a bad pair as standard until now.
Some of the settings are annoying to find and have to go in through sub folder to sub folder to find the options, but being a Nokia person I find it a problem but I hope to get used to the Sony layout quickly. (I wish all cell phones where like IBM based machines all shared the same software and make things easier for all).
The 2 Mega Pixel camera is not as good as I thought, I have seen better 1.3 mega pixel cameras out there that can take a better quality picture.
Other than that the battery life is quite impressive indeed, being using the mp3 player all day and the battery still has life in it, I went for the Sony as I wish to upgrade the memory I was also tempted by the Nokia 6630 but the handset would cost a lot more on my contract, but I did need something with a memory card as I use mp3's a lot so with the 2 gig limit it should give me enough room to store a hundred songs, the 64 meg card that comes as standard lets me get about 17 mp3's not including any other stuff such as photo's and movie clips, so an upgrade is really essential indeed.
Other than the software issue of the phone mentioned above and the calander I really think this is a good phone indeed, better looking than the K750i due to actually being able to see the camera on the side of the phone and not hidden away, all my other issues can be addressed through buying a jack plug so I can use my decent head phones and a new duo card.
Overall for the first week of using the D750i I'd give it 8/10
AJ.

AJ: I'm not very sure if the D750 has T-Mobile's own customized software, but what you're experiencing (the wallpapers, crashing) shouldn't be happening because its not happening on the K750 and the W800.
