New Z800 (unbranded V800)

« on: 14 February 2005, 10:39 »
okay let's separate the threads. here are some photos of the z800, unvodafoned version of the v800 with no differences apart from the new covers (and no crappy vodafone menus!!!). here's the official site: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=global&lc=en&ver=4001&template=pp1_1_1&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10235 and the press release: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=global&lc=en&ver=4001&template=pc3_1_1&zone=pc&lm=pc3_1&prid=2827

"Z800 also functions as a music player activated with only one click on the dedicated media player button. It comes with stereo handsfree and supports MP3/AAC/M4A file formats. To give an extra powerful music experience, the Mega Bass™ can be switched on. Using Sony Ericsson’s popular PlayNow™ feature, consumers get one-click access to a top-10 list of MP3 ringtones, and this is updated on a continuous basis"

very impressive

I accidently commented on this one in another section, but whatever. The second picture with the strange cover looks awesome. Any idea how much inches is the display? I think the S700 display is 2.2 inches, so if someone can post a comparison, I'd appreciate it.

The display? Yes, but I don't know how big is the V800 display either. :)

Please read more carefully before responding.

EDIT: Here on UCSE the V800 page says 2.2 inches, while the S700's one says 2.3 inches. Can anybody confirm that?

This new development reminds me... in this forum sometime late last year (September?) Viper and I discussed a possible new Z phone.  He was guessing it was going to be called Z700 (from a feature standpoint?) and I was guessing that it would be named Z800 because I took it from the F500 -> K500 precedent.

Viper had good points, but I now rest my case. XD

It's true, however I wasn't talking about the unbranded V800, since it's not really a new phone. I'm still expecting a Z600 replacement.

Actually, I think it is a new phone. The z800 and V800 are the same phones, as you said. It isn't refered as new by you because of the difference in time of launch. However, if you look at it from another angle, the reason for the difference in time is because of the Vodaphone stuff. So if Vodaphone wasn't around to interfer, there might not have been a V800, thus making the z800 the "next flip phone" of SE.
