The K600 thread

« on: 14 February 2005, 08:57 »
Just a quick note to let you know I have just received a press release from Sony Ericsson talking about new phones Z800 and K600. [Click here for the Z800 thread]. The K600 is quite a surprise. A 3G K700 (dual UMTS/GSM Triband 900/1800/1900). From the specs that's what it looks like (sort of): 1.8" 262k color screen, 1.3 megapixel camera with active lens cap and Radio FM. Not the most detailed press release in the world, certainly, but we can guess the screen is 177x220 pixels and that it has MS Duo support (probably not Pro). From the photos I also guess the camera on the front, just for videocalls, is only VGA or less (0.3 megapixels), as the one in the Z1010. The TrueUSB support borrowed from the V800 and the side shortcut keys from the good old japaneese Premini add up to the exciting pack of features. A poll about why they called it K600 being better than the K700?. By the way this is NOT the so-called K750i, since the camera is 1.3mp and not 2mp as the K750i.

i think i like it! i would rework the area around the joystick but the general premini2 style looks great in that aluminic case.

updated the news: Just a quick note to let you know I have just received a press release from Sony Ericsson talking about new phones Z800 and K600. by the way they say it will be on stores really soon: Q2 2005!

some quotes of Hiroshi Nakaizumi, design chief in Sony Ericsson:

"the era of bulky 3g phones is gone (...) the k600 wants to be a highly desirable modern and at the same time classic phone. it is a fascinating combination of design and features (...) we think the k600 is going to be a true symbol. it has such an appeal that we expect it to be very popular in the worldwide 3g evolution"

I like it a lot! A mini iPod phone XD! The shape of the K600 looks like one, especially how it rounds on the sides ..... just like a mini iPod! Someone here said that Nokia=Microsoft and SE=Apple ..... He was right ;D! Maybe they share the same designer :D!

OUCH!! The K600 supports NO external memory, at all! Check out the official page: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=global&lc=en&ver=4001&template=pp1_1_1&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10238

With the design / form factor and direct usb it's a shame that Motorola will get the iTunes integration and not SE :-(

Still a must-get phone (the first 3G ever appealing to me).
Did anyone else notice: To me looks like the PowerBook of mobile phones.

Is def a great looking phone! I think SE are at the front of the 3G market - no one else can seem to match them for style or funtionality! The futures bright!!
