Sony Ericsson `Clara`

« on: 07 December 2004, 16:57 »
Eldar from M-R.com has said that he has got his hands on a new model from Sony Ericsson, nicknamed `Clara`. It seems that it's the `F700/K900/T650` that we've all been waiting for, and he's saying that SE think it's going to be `a killer`. So far the specs. are:

Screen: 262k colours, 176*220.
Connectivity: Bluetooth 1.2
Camera: CCD sensor (I think), 2 MegaPixels. Similar to that of S700i, but higher resolution.
Memory: Internal ~ 90MB, possibly 100MB. External - MSD. But we might see a 256MB MSD by the time it's released.
Design: Plastic, similar to T630, with altered back cover, probably idea of 'dual front', half phone, half camera again. Eldar's proto. is `dark in colour`.
UI: Similar to the present UI. I don't know if that includes V800i's UI, which is the same, but with added animation eg Highlights.
Other: MP3 playback supported, possible FM Radio.

Eldar also says that there's another model in the pipelines, which will be a real premium handset with a new UI that SE are working on that's based on the present one with a few changes.

differences is not huge but a very good. I try some skins on emulator, it is not ordinary  In some ways they use all buttons for navigate, call etc... In my opinion it will be good approach for SE in 2005

I'm waiting for more info. and a picture, although Eldar is waiting for someone else as he doesn't want to reveal his source. I'll post it as soon as I see it.

I'm guessing it will either be announced at or around the time of Ce-Bit 05 (10-16 March), or maybe even at Mobile Focus at CES (05-01-05).

Note - this is pure specculation, it hasn't been confirmed by anyone.

I'm surprised no one has bothered to reply. Oh well. Meet Clara's keypad.

I'v read the rumors also. The specs aren't bad I just hope they use a new fresh design for the phone.

So, where did you find that picture?

Newsflash: New style connector means that user can hotplug the phone directly to PC, plug&play (via USB?) and browse files on the phone and MSD card.

USB cable included with Eldar's pre-release model - Clara can be used as Flash Drive without additional software/drivers!

From your description, it is not going to be a major break for S/E,I can't see anything really catch my nerves.
the thing is the screen ,176X220,i doubt that when s/e arm the phone with a  2M cam...and form your keypad picture i think it will more likely to be a K700's reborn edition.
but the USB driver seems like a good idea, anyone got worries about mobile phone virus yet?

So what is my major thoughts?

1,support full screen video playback and recording, improved zoom and shuttle speed
2,better 3D support, arm it with a game-pad like Z600(my finger hurts so bad everytime after work,u konw)
3, finally i wonder when s/e is going to release it;s own GAME phone, PSP is likely to hit the market soon, and i really think it could also be a Play Station Phone...

Did I really miss this thread?! Oh well...

The phone looks fantastic! Way better than the K700. The keyboard is very stylish and seems comfortable to work with. If all the specs are true, then this is going to be the ultimate phone for its size. Certainly my next one. I hope they announce it soon, so we can get the real stuff.

Hm.. it looks like the Black T630.. And I noticed the joystick is slightly different too?

The video looks like the S700 UI.. Does that mean the default orientation of the camera is in the landscape mode?

I think so... also note the zoom scale - progressive zoom, no 2x, 4x etc. Someone has suggested that we may see an optical zoom, hence the reason why we haven't seen any picture of the back. I'm waiting for Eldar to confirm that though.

I especially like the 80-100MB memory and the Duo slot. Can anybody make a comparison between 64k and 256k colors? I mean is the difference be visible?

Opitcal zoom? If that's true, then I think the phone will be a hit! Look at the Sony card-sized cameras and you will realise that they have optical zoom too, without protruding lenses. So I think it might be possible.

I think a good comparison would be between the P900 and the P910.

They have optical zoom, but their lens still require a lof of space. There actually is a retraction of the lens, you just don't see it.
